Proud Anglicans have been in every Toronto Pride parade this century -- and we'll be in the 2026 parade, on Sunday 28 June. If you're within striking distance of Toronto, please join us. Here are the details.
We’ve heard from Pride Toronto. On Pride Day, Sunday 28 June, Proud Anglicans should gather on Aylmer Ave between 1:45 and 2:00 – look for other Proud Anglicans in the assembly, waiting on Aylmer Avenue itself. You'll probably have to make your way through other groups who are also waiting. We are group D18, marching between Scotiabank / Tangerine, in front of us; and Employment and Social Development Canada behind us. (No idea what put us between those two).
Aylmer is the first street running east from Yonge, south of Rosedale Subway station (on the west side of Yonge, it’s Belmont.) The marching groups will move, in order, to the intersection of Park Road and Rosedale Valley Rd – at that point, the floats will join the parade, and the combined groups move up Park Road (a non-trivial hill) to Church St. The parade moves north and west on Church St to Yonge, then south on Yonge to Dundas, turning west on Dundas and south on Bay, where the parade disperses. The parade sets off at 2:00, but we're group D18, so we won't be on the parade route for a while after that. It usually takes about 90 minutes to march from beginning to end of the parade itself, but there will be significant wait time before that. There will be crowd-control barriers all along the way, so you won't be able to leave in the middle of the parade.
We will have Proud Anglicans bibs in six colours of the rainbow for people to wear [we’ll want them back!], and we ask that clergy wear a dark-coloured clergy shirt with collar – it really does make a difference to the way the crowd sees us. We will have PROUD ANGLICANS placards to carry. We will be distributing Proud Anglicans business cards to the crowd to tell them how to find a welcoming church near them (Primary Evangelism!). You may be asked to help hand them out, or to carry the PROUD ANGLICANS banner at the front. We’ll try to get a group picture before we set off; and a photographer from The Anglican, the diocesan newspaper, will be there for part of the parade.
The parade will happen rain or shine. Please dress appropriately, and bring water and sunscreen, and possibly portable snacks (?,granola bars?)
